Created in 1851 by King Louis-Philippe, the Galerie des Carrosses was intended to bring together carriages of historical interest from the Ancien Régime, Empire and Restoration periods. Located in the Grande Ecurie of the Château de Versailles, this sumptuous collection of perfectly restored carriages retraces two centuries of history (18th-20th c.). A number of historic pieces can also be admired: the sedan of the Dauphin, son of Louis XVI, and large ceremonial sedans; Louis XVIII's funeral coach...
