THE FOREST OF VERSAILLES
The forest of Versailles is made up of a series of small massifs criss-crossed by footpaths and cycle paths.
Covering an area of 1,047 ha, the forest of Versailles is a collection of small massifs, criss-crossed by carriage roads, footpaths, bridle paths and mountain bike trails. The most attractive part of the forest runs along the GR11 around a string of ponds to the south of the Satory plateau: the Moulin à Renard, Val d'Or and Geneste ponds, where fishing and canoeing are permitted. On the north side of the Camp de Satory, another section of the GR 11 can be walked on the hillside through the forest, overlooking the château grounds.
