A very large garden, large terraces and an outdoor bar allow you to fully enjoy the place in the beautiful season, to have a drink or to take a gourmet break. The menu offers you a choice of salads generously garnished, flavours of the sea, including a salmon fillet with chives and served with tagliatelle, and prawns perched on the floor in lemon juice, but also house specialties such as the famous duck with canopy sauce or the duck leg confit. accompanied by fries, not to mention the house cassoulet, an essential gastronomic delight. Great location, friendly service, tasty dishes, all the advantages that make La Rapière a restaurant appreciated by the Carcassonnais and tourists.

There are no vegetarian options except pasta so I asked the waitress if it was OK to order the duck so it wasn’t pink or bloody and she said “oh sure fine not a problem.” However, I have worked in French restaurants before and I know that they are very scornful of people who want their meat well done. In my case it’s because I’m primarily a vegetarian and when I do eat poultry or fish, I want it to be cooked all the way through. In any case, the meal that arrived was a hunk of charred gristle, as hard as a piece of wood, almost inedible. What really got me was that the waitress also brought out a basket of packages of mayonnaise and ketchup, as if as an American I would put those things on everything I eat. I asked for a dessert and she asked, “Do you want it right away or maybe after a little bit?” I said “After a little bit is fine.” 45 minutes later they still hadn’t brought me my dessert so I paid and left. As an American who has lived and worked several years in France I understand the French have a lot of hostility towards us, but I was truly insulted at the way I was treated at this restaurant. Mayonnaise and ketchup. Really.
Le restaurant est excellent, le petit déjeuner est copieux, la chambre est très spacieuse et confortable
La propreté est parfaite
Et l emplacement aux abords de la cité est incomparable pour la proximité et la vue de la terrasse du resto
