Shrubs, flower beds, ancient kiosk, fountain, bronze sculptures, marble columns from Caunes-Minervois, children's games etc. With overlooking views of the Bastide Saint-Louis ramparts on one side, and Canal du Midi and the marina on the other, Jardin André-Chénier garden is a meeting place, of course a little noisy at peak hours but well located, close to the train station and the main shopping street of the lower town. This square has been dedicated to the poet since 1954. It is a very vibrant place where, throughout the year, various attractions like markets, craft fairs, association and sports meetings, outdoor concerts, especially in July during Festival de la Bastide, and in late August during the Spanish week and finally, alongside Place Carnot and Maréchal-Juin square, "la Magie de Noël": during one month, the square welcomes toboggans, merry-go-rounds, a small train, Santa Claus' sleigh, sulkies, gourmet chalets... For your information, the pink marble column of Caunes-Minervois, which is 7.35 metres, is similar to those which decorate Grand Trianon de Versailles, a few kilometres away.
