MONASTÈRE NOTRE-DAME-DE-PROUILHE
Dominican Monastery with fifteen double rooms, two bathrooms, a dining room, and a library.
This Dominican monastery, nestled in a beautiful park, welcomes believers and secularists for a stopover or a spiritual healing stay - essential reservation. For the reception, the community has an "Arquet" building, where fifteen double rooms, two meeting rooms, a dining room, and a small library are located. Some thirty Dominican religious people live on the spot: they share their time between work and prayer. Crafts are an important part of their activity. They make ceramics, pottery, and master the art of calligraphy. The offices are celebrated in the Romano-Byzantine basilica, built in the nineteenth century. The building is currently being restored following the fire that partially destroyed it in 1990. Birthplace of the Dominicans, this monastery is on its own an important page in the history of the Aude.
