This work of art was completed in 1694 according to the plans of Vauban, technical and architectural work in ashlar with a succession of 11 arches which allows the canal to evacuate its overflow of water and serves to empty the reaches during the unemployment in the river of the Argent Double. This spillway was created to prevent the flooding of the Argent Double, which was largely discharged into the canal with the addition of branches and sand in its bed that hindered navigation.
