The first major Roman road was built for military purposes in Narbonne.

The Via Domitia was the first major Roman road built for military purposes. Originally designed to link Italy and Spain, it soon took on a commercial dimension. Its route seems to have been supported in 118 BC by the Roman general Domitius Ahenobarbus, after whom it was named. At the heart of today's Place de l'Hôtel-de-Ville, pedestrians can admire a section of track that was rehabilitated in 1997, two meters below the level of the square. Today, it's the center of attention.

The historic heart of the city, accidentally excavated in 1997, during the redevelopment of the Place city hall, the place is legendary, which constitutes a portion of the main axis of traffic South-north of Roman Gaul.
You walk with gravity and emotion on an authentic pavement bimillenary.
Difficult to photograph the summer, if not between midnight and 8 am so there is world.
