Château Aguilar, designed as a plain castle, controlled access to the Corbières.
The Château d'Aguilar stands in this beautiful Cathar region, but played no military role during the Albigensian Crusade. Written evidence of its existence can be found as early as 1020, under the name "Puig Agilar". Proudly overlooking the Tuchan plain from its 321-metre-high hilltop, it controlled access to the Corbières. However, despite its "height", it was designed as a plain castle.

The ruins were interesting to see: everything was muddy from the massive amount of rain the area received. But interesting just the same.
