For a weekend, Aigues-Mortes offers an impressive reconstruction of its medieval era, with tournaments and parades.
If several festivals honoring the Middle Ages take place in the castles and villages of Gard throughout the summer, the Saint-Louis in Aigues-Mortes offers an impressive reconstruction. For one weekend, the city celebrates its founder and his embarkation for the seventh crusade on August 25, 1248. Medieval market and ball, historical parades, street theater, acrobats, knights' camps with family activities, chivalry tournaments and a tavern are on the program of the festivities, all concluded by a fireworks show.
