Museum with archaeological collections from the Palaeolithic period, collections of paintings from the French and foreign schools from the century

Located at the top of the Parc du Colombier, in the center of town, the museum is housed in a charming 18th-century château. Archaeological collections from the Palaeolithic era stand alongside 16th-century paintings from French and foreign schools. The Montaion Stele, dating from the Neolithic period, stands alongside a triptych of the Holy Trinity by Jean Bellegambe. But the museum is also renewing itself by offering multi-sensory devices to allow visitors to become one with the works through their senses: sound, smell and taste, texture and sight of course.

In 2024 what a surprise to experience such an awful discrimination. I was followed throughout my visit, as if me and my children wanted to steal from the Museum. I've been to over 9 Countries in my life, and visited museums in each country. Even in France, I've travelled to almost all regions and visited Museums (bigger than this one including Le Louvre in Paris) and NEVER experienced discrimination, and being given a sense of being a thief. Distasteful.
