STÈLE DE CLARA D'ANDUZA
The bust of Clara d'Anduze, a 13th-century trobairitz (feminine form of troubadour), is a tribute to this figure of Occitan poetry. Originally created in bronze in 1895 on the initiative of Eugène Bastidon, it was unfortunately stolen in 1942. A new, highly stylized stone bust was erected in 1954, on the initiative of the local Anduzia society for literary and artistic encouragement. A vibrant testament to the era and the desire to perpetuate the memory of this poetess. The inscription reads: "To the troubadour Clara d'Anduze, to perpetuate the langue d'oc".
