LA TABLE DU MARCHÉ
Restaurant with terrace labeled Militant of taste with private parking in Aujargues
Tucked away from the main roads, two kilometers from Sommières, its old town and Roman bridge, a two-star hotel-restaurant is hidden away in Aujargues. The hotel is called Le grand Jardin and the restaurant La Table du marché. There's a small private parking lot, a terrace where you can soak up the sun in mid-season, and a bright, sober dining room where you'll feel right at home in summer, when it's sweltering outside. Everything here is homemade, right down to the bread. Chef Jan Trepala works exclusively with local, seasonal produce. The olive oil comes from the Villevieille mill, a stone's throw from the restaurant. The gardiane de taureau, the rice from the Camargue, the pélardons from the Cévennes, the sweet onion from Le Vigan, everything is made to awaken your taste buds. The wines, too, come from producers whose names alone are enough to evoke this region, such as Pic Saint-Loup. The restaurant has been awarded the "Militant du goût" label, and is a great advocate of the region's products.
