In just a few years, the city of Bagnols-sur-Cèze has grown from a few thousand souls to more than 18,000 inhabitants, making it the third largest city in the department and the capital of the Gard Rhodanien. Located in the heart of the city, the vast Auguste Mallet square, paved and lined with ribbed vaults, is surrounded by private mansions dating from the 15th to the 18th century. This square offers a magnificent view to lovers of old stones and ancient buildings. In the middle of the square stands a huge wrought iron cross dating from 1750.
