LA POTERIE LE CHÊNE VERT
History. Pottery Le Chêne Vert is specialized in the manufacture of Anduze vases, these vases on pedestal moulded in the shape of an inverted bell. The know-how of excellence of this family business is recognized by the label Entreprise du patrimoine vivant. The legend of the Anduze vase tells us that in 1610, a potter conquered by the elegance of a Medici vase discovered at the Beaucaire Fair gave birth to the first "Anduze vase". Inspired by Italian exuberance and Cévennes austerity, he decorated his garden vases with garlands and macaroons. These large glazed earthen vases, intended to accommodate lemon and orange trees, embellished the gardens and orangeries of the most noble residences from the 18th century onwards. Another legend tells that the Anduze vase embellished the gardens of Versailles in the time of the Sun King. A true jewel of southern gardens, it is now exported all over the world.
The products. Pottery Le Chêne Vert, founded in 1992, is the result of a very long line of potters, the Gautier family, whose traces date back to the 16th century. Today, it is one of the only companies to perpetuate the traditional hand-turned handcrafted gestures, offering vases and decorative objects of traditional craftsmanship, entirely designed and produced in its workshop in Anduze
