CHURCH OF SAINT-BAUZILLE-DE-MONTMEL

The parish of Saint-Bauzille-de-Montmel owes its name to Mormelacum's oppidum at the foot of which the medieval village has been built. The church was stunned in the nineteenth century when a new nef perpendicular to the previous one was constructed and the entire lateral wall had to be opened. At present, the primitive nef, rescinded in warheads, is used as a sanctuary and the Romanesque abside has become a chapel. Outside, this abside offers a pentagonal plan, a very rare provision in this sector. It is pierced by a small, double-sided axial bay. The southern side wall, mounted in the medium well adjusted, retained its primitive corniche consisting of slabs in brackets.
