SELLERIE BERTI
As a child, he was captivated by horses, as he was already attracted by leather and the manual and creative work associated with the material. But he waited until he was 30 years old to finally get into the saddle and combine passion and profession. Trained at the leather goods department of the Ecole nationale Abbé Grégoire in Paris, Christophe Berti learned the trade of saddler and leather goods maker before joining the prestigious Hermès company. After a few years, with exceptional know-how and rigour, this former medical sales representative returned to the country to develop his own business. The craftsman is today one of the last manufacturers of Carmargue saddles in the Arles region. In his workshop, a temple of the beautiful work located in Fourques, Christophe Berti shapes unique pieces, adapted to the morphology of the cow and that of its mount. Hand-sewn, his saddles, an assembly of many parts renowned for their comfort and solidity, require 150 hours of work at the very least. The designer has also developed a range of leather goods: bracelets, belts, pompoms key rings, collars and leashes for dogs, a sample of which can be found on the website.
