THE ROYAL TOWER AND ITS TELEGRAPH CAP..
This tower, once a relay station for the Chappe optical telegraph, has been brought back to life thanks to a restoration and an aerial transmission mechanism
A former 13th-century watchtower, the Tour Royale rises to the top of the village and was used as a relay station for the Chappe optical telegraph, which it housed from 1832 to 1852. Following the restoration of the tower, the Gallarguois Heritage Association coordinated the creation of a complete and functional aerial transmission mechanism, fully in line with the original model. Sunday tours, including the post office museum, are organized on a regular basis.
