SAINT VINCENT OPPIDUM
Oppidum located on a hill 270 m above sea level, witness to the Gallic presence on the site in the century BC.
To the west of Gaujac lies this oppidum, an elevated promontory on a hillside 270 meters above sea level. The site was excavated in 1974 by archaeologists Charmasson and Cannaud. Remains of a thermal bath dating back to the 6th century B.C. were found. At the crossroads of three transit routes, the fortified town became a strategic stronghold for trade from 80 BC onwards. In the Middle Ages, a village was established here, and traces of an 11th-century chapel can still be seen. Here you are, immersed in a veritable journey through time!
