COOPERAGE MUSEUM
The commune of Générac, in the heart of the Costières de Nîmes region, has been a major cooperage centre for centuries. The activity depended directly on the local vineyard. Tuns, barrels, quartauts, feuillettes and muids were made until 1954. In 1995, for the fête de la Souche, a tribute was paid to these goldsmiths of wood and iron with the inauguration of the Museum in one of the wings of the Château, with a wide variety of tools on display and used for the manufacture of these barrels. Guided tours are available by appointment.
