DOMAINE DE FLORIAN
This estate whispers to those who can hear them the tales of its ancestor, the fabulist Jean-Pierre Claris de Florian. Listening to the land which was said to be flourishing (meaning of this Florian), he turned it into a well-located estate, on the first foothills of the Cévennes, near Sauve. A clay-limestone terroir, cut by a few marly banks, which is now planted with regional and extra-regional grape varieties. Cool nights following the hot days of the southern summers give whites, made from Sauvignon, and also Chardonnay and Viognier, powerful, fine and fresh. The full-bodied reds draw their bouquet from Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot treated in long maceration, which guarantees them a good ageing potential.
