MONTDARDIER CASTLE
The fortress built in the XII century was demolished several times and restored in 1860 by Viollet-le-Duc. It was inscribed in the repertoire of historical monuments in 1989. Often criticized in the past, this Viollet-le-Duc building bears witness to architecture in industrial times, and to the rehabilitation of the Middle Ages by romantic people in the nineteenth century. Construction materials are traditional (wood and stone) but also new at the time: iron, zinc, bricks… The castle is private property and does not visit.
