CHAPELLE DES JESUITES
The Jesuit fathers left important architectural memories in Nîmes, including this huge chapel, a spectacular church dating back to the late th century. Belatedly classified by historical Monuments (1973), the building, of rare monumental elegance, was completely renovated in the 1980 s. Not being dedicated to religious worship, the vast chapel has become a prestigious exhibition room. It welcomes both modern and contemporary artists, local members of the region or exhibitions on the discoveries of local archaeology. The beautiful area, in particular, showed the two Gallo-Roman mosaics (Achille and Penthée), which were found during the last excavations under the aisles Jean-Jaurès. It is also an appointment for associations wishing to organize a major socio-cultural event.
