JAZZ 70
Since the disappearance in 2004 of Guy Labory, the initiator of the prestigious international arena festival, jazz seemed to have deserted the city somewhat. But for some years now, the Jazz 70 Association has been able to boast about the jazz in Nîmes. Members of the Jazz Group in L'R, programmers and turners have been re-established as an indispensable partner for many operations. The association had the good idea of not confining itself to elitist chapels. As a result, those who work around the artistic Director, Stéphane Kochoyan, seek to mix styles to bring together all generations around jazz. Thursday of Nîmes, the musical evenings of the Imperator, the atria, the 9 or the Milonga del Angel, not forgetting the festivals, Jazz at Vauvert in summer and Jazz Valley in autumn, the choices are voluntarily eclectic. Announcing a concert about every month, Jazz 70 publishes a small programme and invites its audience to support the association by subscribing (15 € individually, 20 for a couple) and thus enjoying discounted rates on concerts.
