It's no secret that Nîmes' culture is in many ways closer to Spanish than to French. One example is the Festival de Flamenco de Nîmes, which has been running since 1989! Held over a two-week period at the beginning of January, the festival features flamenco dance performances and concerts, and has seen some of the genre's greatest talents come and go, as well as budding young talents who have since gone on to become true flamenco stars. While the majority of shows take place at the Théâtre de Nîmes, Place de La Calade, some are held in other venues, cinemas, with screenings, meetings, exhibitions... Two whole weeks dedicated to flamenco culture in all its forms, sure to delight fans of the genre, and introduce novices to a truly unique and captivating universe. Not to be missed!
