Nîmes is not called French Rome for nothing. During a weekend in the spring, the city metamorphoses into a Roman garrison. In the streets there are parades, animations and shows that follow one another in the exceptional scenery represented by the archaeological museum, the gardens of the Fountain, the Magne Tower or the Square House. Guided tours evoke Nîmes in the time of the Roman emperors, workshops for children learn how to make period objects. Restaurateurs also play the game and offer meals as they were prepared in Roman times. In the arenas, more than 200 reenactors from all over Europe and 400 extras offer a great show on a different theme each year: for 2020, Julius Caesar will be honoured. You will attend equestrian exercises, horse races, with tanks and gladiators on foot, you will relive the legendary ludi (games). All the information is on the website.
