The first cathedral of Nîmes with a Romanesque frieze, organ, Gallo-Roman sarcophagi and master paintings.

First cathedral of Nîmes consecrated by Pope Urban II in 1096, and built on the foundations of a Merovingian church by R. de Saint-Gilles (Count of Toulouse). It was destroyed during the religious wars but Catholics and Protestants jointly participated in a tax to rebuild it in 1646. It has a Romanesque frieze similar to those found in the Maison Carrée. Its 17th century organ is next to paintings by masters and Gallo-Roman sarcophagi.
