TOUR MAGNE
The only surviving tower among the 80 towers of the ancient city, it is the city's highest vantage point.
The only surviving example of the ancient city wall and its 80 towers, the Tour Magne is the only one still standing. Perched on Mount Cavalier, it dominates the plain and is the city's highest point. Standing 32.50 meters high, it was a strategic point from which to watch over the Via Domitia, the Alpilles, Mont Ventoux and the Vistre plain. Once you've climbed the hundred or so steps to the top, the terrace offers a breathtaking panoramic view of Nîmes and the surrounding area. An exhibition at reception explains the history of the tower.
