THE CASTLE OF ROUSSON
This castle, built between 1600 and 1615 by Baron Jacques d'Agulhac de Beaumefort, Baron de Rousson, is transmitted from generation to generation, by inheritance or by redemption, to families whose genealogical ties form uninterrupted continuity. Because of the wars of religion and the political and social tensions of the time, it was erected with fortifications to create a strong defence. A strong Catholic place dependent on the duchy of Uzès, the castle is perfectly preserved. It resists the curse and affres of time thanks to the strength of those who apply it to maintain it. Now inhabited by Brigitte and Dominique De Cabissole, he has undergone some renovations and improvements to be adapted to modern life. Richelieu lived there in 1629 when the peace of Ops was signed (old name for Alès). It is possible to book the castle for events such as weddings, baptisms, receptions, etc. The castle also makes guests table (upon reservation). Don't hesitate to come and enjoy a magnificent panoramic view of the Cevennes mountains at Mont Ventoux.
