THE DUGAS CHAPEL
Go there and contact
Overlooking the town, the rock of Dugas consists of a vast rock ensemble, dominated by a "altar of sacrifice" carved in the rock. This was where the primitive habitat was located. On this plateau, which rises over forty metres high, stands the Chapel of Dugas. Its construction, on the location of a former feudal castle razed in 1629 by the order of Louis XIII - is due to the work of Abbot Salignon, priest from 1857 to 1869. The building is a Romanesque style castellated with a large tower and four turrets. The grand tower brings to the summit a statue of the Virgin. The interior of the building is simple. The annual celebration takes place on 5 August and the mass is always celebrated on the square on the Sunday the closest to that date.
