OIGNON DOUX DES CEVENNES
Emblematic of the Cévennes, the sweet onion is the star of the market gardeners' stalls. These pearls of softness shape the landscape and contribute to the region's reputation. In 1991, about thirty local producers decided to form a cooperative. A method for dealing with the major difficulties posed by the territory, particularly the small size of the cultivation plots. Over the years, the cooperative has grown - over a hundred members - and the product has gained in reputation. It obtained the AOC in 2003, then the AOP in 2008, an ambitious and successful development brand. Since its creation, the cooperative has promoted the Cévennes region and mobilized producers on the importance of respecting the territory: research program, training, traceability, etc.
