Museum located in the heart of the village of Saint-Christol, housing authentic items including written materials through the ages
In the heart of the village, 400 meters from the obelisk - symbolizing the road to Montpellier and the sea to the south, and the road to Alès and the Cévennes to the north - part of the former17th-century outbuildings of the central château has been renovated to create this writing museum. Inside, three beautiful vaulted rooms welcome you as you enter this museum dedicated to the art of script. Here, you'll be able to observe authentic items, from writing media through the ages to writing instruments used for 5,000 years (including a collection of over 5,000 nibs!). A French-English audio guide takes visitors through all seven rooms, providing a unique opportunity to discover the art of script and calligraphy. Several writing workshops and courses are also offered throughout the year.
