VIGNOBLES DAVID
This family estate of 53 hectares planted with vines (average age 35 years) and olive trees is located in the southern Rhône valley, just a few turns of the wheel from Avignon. The property, set on the edge of scrubland and on slopes, is composed of several types of soil. There are rolled pebbles from the Rhone, clay and limestone, Miocene sands and stony marls, all of which give the terroir its very special aromatic expressions. Wines that reflect the philosophy of Alain David, a sympathetic and passionate winemaker and his son Frédéric. Both are committed to producing the best possible wine with respect for nature and traditions. As proof this kosher wine made from 60% grenache noir and 40% mourvèdre, a (very) special vintage that they are the only ones in the region to offer. In addition to the "Prieuré La Clastre", a well-balanced wine with dark fruit, liquorice and cocoa connotations, "le Mourre de l'Isle" is a pretty rosé made by bleeding and vinified for three weeks in vats at 16° in order to preserve as many aromas as possible. In good years, the estate produces "Le Voyage d'Ulysse", a wine with a limited yield (35h/ha), harvested by hand early in the morning. Matured in barrels for twelve months without racking, skillfully named it can wait 6 or 7 years before being fully appreciated.
