VALBONNE CHARTERHOUSE
Although the village itself is not well known, its forest estate (1,500 hectares) is one of the most beautiful in France. The hiking trail through the woods, known as the Combes de Valbonne, leads us to the Chartreuse, a wonderful historical monument that was founded at the beginning of the 13th century on the site of a Benedictine monastery. In the 17th and 18th centuries, it was the Carthusian Order that rebuilt it in the very heart of the forest and lived in harmony with nature, the work of the wine-growing fields and religious rites. Today, the open house plunges us into the mysterious atmosphere of the monks of yesteryear. The cells, whose furniture and everyday objects have been preserved, underline a world of silence and hard work, but much more sophisticated than we think. The green spaces around the large cloister, the square of the simple, the chapel, the refectory, the whole reflects a rich past. Other cells have been converted into rough but comfortable hotel rooms. An invitation to calm, serenity and also to taste the local cuisine and wines of the estate. Classical music concerts are regularly organised in this exceptional setting.

Il est dommageable de laisser visiter un lieu aussi beau sans entretien.
Un minimum rendrait ce site beaucoup plus attrayant.
La seule chose que nous retenons de cette visite est le grand cloître. Le reste sans commentaire????
Bien déçu....
