Abyss discovered in 1888 by Edouard-Alfred Martel, father of speleology, offering a superb waterfall in Saint-Sauveur-Camprieu.
Édouard-Alfred Martel, the father of speleology, discovered the Bramabiau abyss in 1888. We follow in his footsteps along a 2.5 km route, including 1 km in a cave, part of an 11 km network. Starting in the undergrowth of the Aigoual massif, the trail follows a crescendo of descent through the vegetation, leading to the underground river, the Bonheur, which gushes out through a narrow, spectacular 70 m-high fissure and cascades its waters. The site is said to have been the object of ancient cults. The highlight of the visit before leaving: dinosaur footprints.
