ROMANESQUE CHURCH OF SAINT-ÉTIENNE D'ESCATTES
Inscribed in the inventory of historic monuments in 1949, the church is the property of the municipality of Souvignargues. Damaged in the sixteenth century, during the wars of religion, it nevertheless preserves, which is rare in the region, its original appearance with an oven abside and the beautiful vault in the cradle of its nef that measures 10 m long on 5.60 m wide, and about 7 to 8 m in height under vault. If you add the chorus, you reach a little more than 15 m. The pigeon-tower that overcomes the west façade is later: it dates from the eighteenth century, like the bell it houses.
