LE VIEUX CAFE D'ANIATHAZZE
Terrace restaurant offering a selection of regional wines, aperitifs and a quick lunch
Retro inside and furiously traditional, the Vieux Café d'Aniathazze has all the hallmarks of a French-style pub. In direct contact with the local hustle and bustle, from the busy circular boulevard to the ancient lices that encircle the historic center, the old brasserie acts as a link between the modern city and the medieval town. This crossroads address attracts a large crowd (150 covers), especially in summer, when it's the perfect time to enjoy a convivial aperitif or a quick lunch. Fresh meats and fish are suggested in the honest daily menu (starter, main course, dessert) at €15. On the à la carte menu, you'll find large salads (€12 to €16), rustic tartars (€14) and generous quantities of entrecôtes or magrets around €20. For the selection of regional wines, prices range from €17 to €35 for a 75 cl bottle. On Saturdays, the hustle and bustle of the adjacent market extends to the terrace, where seats are expensive but quickly filled. At Le Vieux Café, you can breathe in the Uzétian air, read the newspaper and soak up the atmosphere of the faubourg before entering the medieval belly.
