THE SAINT-ANDRÉ ABBEY AND ITS GARDENS
An abbey with Italian and Mediterranean gardens and panoramic views to visit in a video tour.
The abbot's palace epitomizes the splendor of the 18th century and the Saint-Maur congregation. You can admire the sumptuous vaulted rooms, redesigned in the 17th and 18th centuries by Pierre Mignard, the King's architect. As early as 1930, the poet Elsa Koeberlé and the painter Genia Lioubov designed the Italian garden on the 2 hectares surrounding the abbey, making it splendid. This development was continued by Roseline Bacou, and then her family, who opened the site to the public in 1990.
