OLD TOWN CASTLE
Dominating the Virdourle valley and offering a cavalier view of the medieval town of Sommières, the seigneurial castle of Villevieille has stood the test of time for nearly ten centuries. This family residence, built in the 11th century, preserves the majesty of its Romanesque towers, the elegance of its Renaissance wing and the prestige of its main courtyard (Louis XIV style). The furniture is original in the large living room (gypseries), the dining room (Flemish leather), the bedrooms... Since the hunt for Cathars, the wars of religion, the Revolution, a rich and eventful history that lasted until the 18th century thanks to the powerful Bermond de Sauve family. In the 1960s, the castle was the subject of a vast restoration project and today tries to keep the atmosphere lively all year round by renting its noble spaces for seminars, exhibitions, symposiums or events. In August, the castle courtyard, a beautiful setting for a series of classical concerts, is the perfect place for a festival. Sometimes, music lovers take the key to the fields and settle in the chapel of Saint-Julien de Salinelles, a few kilometres from Villevielle.

C'est dommage, ce cadre mériterait un restaurant d'une gamme au dessus.
Pour finir pas du tout de geste commercial. C’est lamentable!
Plus jamais je n’y retournerai.
