ST FULCRAN'S CATHEDRAL
Cathedral of Saint-Fulcran of Gothic style with flamboyant parts, one of the oldest and most remarkable monuments of Lodève
This cathedral bears witness to the importance of the bishopric of Lodève between the 4th century and 1790, when it was dissolved. Classified as one of the fortified cathedrals of Languedoc, the building, first built in the 10th century, was built again in the 13th century. The present cathedral, in Gothic style with flamboyant parts, was built between the 12th and 14th centuries. It is the oldest and most remarkable monument of Lodève. The destruction of the religious wars led to major restoration works between 1634 and 1643.
