LE CHÂTEAU DU POUJOL
Castle with comfortable rooms and a breathtaking view of the surrounding ridges.
Nestled in the heart of the Cévennes National Park, Château du Poujol is a remarkable building with medieval roots. Like a sentinel on its rocky outcrop, it is now home to a number of bed & breakfasts offering breathtaking views of the surrounding ridges. The rooms, which can accommodate two people, are tastefully decorated by Nicole Chabanne, and offer a level of comfort that befits a stay in the countryside. The table d'hôtes gives pride of place to local produce. A picnic lunch is available on request for those who want to spend the day out and about.

La chambre que nous occupions au rez-de-chaussée était bruyante : de nombreux va-et-vient dans la pièces contigüe à notre chambre (loquet poucier rustique très sonore) et absence d'insonorisation avec la chambre de dessus

Absolutely stunning location, nestled amongst trees and hills. Gorgeous pool overlooking the valley. Philippe & Nicole are passionate about the local region and have many tips for hikes/swimming spots in the river/places to visit. Superb dinners by Christian. Highly recommended for a peaceful and relaxing holiday.

We stayed three nights at the Chateau du Poujol. It's a lovely, small chateau - just four guest rooms - set in large grounds. Nicole, a lovely warm host, has worked for 20 years restoring the chateau and grounds - a labour of love. It's a beautiful result. The evening dinner is three courses of food from the region, simply but well prepared.
