CHAOS OF NÎMES-LE-VIEUX
A site with rocks in the form of ramparts, towers and columns
For thousands of years, erosion has carved strange and fantastic shapes in the dolomitic limestone that have fed the fear of men. To exorcise these ancestral fears, names with human references have always been given to these terrifying rocks. The chaos of Nîmes-le-Vieux is no exception to this rule, and there are rocks in the form of ramparts, towers and columns, which have been named Gargantua's Marmite, the Lion, the Arenas... An interpretation trail, set up by the Cévennes National Park, allows you to discover the place through 7 stages (panels) and a 1.5 hour walk.
