Castle located in the heart of the town, part of the discovery circuits
Florac castle, administrative headquarters of the Cévennes National Park since 1976, is a place steeped in history. First mentioned in the 12th century, it served as a strategic fortification, particularly during the Wars of Religion. Rebuilt in 1652 after these conflicts, it was sold to the State in 1810, transformed into a prison and then a hospital. Recently restored, it now houses permanent exhibitions of the Parc National. Located in the heart of the town, with its Rochefort dolomitic limestone cornices, it offers a prestigious setting in which to discover the region.
