THE CHÂTEAU DE LA BAUME
This castle at 1 200 meters of altitude is perhaps the highest castle in France
This is perhaps the highest castle in France, at an altitude of 1,200 metres. Begun in 1630, its thick granite walls give it a massive appearance. Local artists were first required for its decoration, then some were brought in from Montpellier and Paris, who brought a certain Italian inspiration. Its embellishments have been preserved for the most part, earning it the title of "Versailles of Gévaudan". The castle also offers a gîte in part of the adjoining "Ferme Haute", with a beautiful view of the castle and the park.

Mais dommage, nous aurions bien voulu voir la mèche de Napoléon 1er. Et nous ne pouvons pas payer par carte bleue.
