Church with central stained glass window depicting the Virgin Mary and Child Jesus
The present-day CHURCH was rebuilt on the site of the former château after the destruction caused by the Wars of Religion. As you walk down the central aisle to the end of the nave, the stained glass window in the middle depicts the Virgin Mary and the Infant Jesus, facilitating the escape of a figure dressed in purple and wearing a crown. Legend has it that this fugitive was a Prince of Aragon, freed by the Virgin's intercession. In those days, prisons were called "carces", hence the name of the CHURCH.
