ROQUEDOL CASTLE
16th century castle located in Meyrueis, with a Renaissance staircase, a footpath beside it leads to the Aigoual forest
The château is a superb 16th-century building situated 750 meters above sea level in the commune of Meyrueis. Shaped like a massive quadrilateral, the building is well-preserved, as is its grand Renaissance staircase. All around, a footpath allows visitors to discover part of the Aigoual forest and its representative forest species, as well as a small formal garden. The hiking map, available from the Gorges du Tarn Causses et Cévennes tourist office, highlights a family-friendly, easy-to-access 5 km walk.
