THE SUBLIME POINT
Sublime point, place fitted out to accomodate the public, a must for all the lovers of the nature and the big spaces.
"In any point sublime": posted on the window of the House of tourism and country of Aubrac to the Gorges of the Tarn, the formula, which echoes the most famous point of view of Lozere, is not deceitful! Located near the village of Saint-Georges-de-Lévejac, the well named Point Sublime is revealed at the end of an itinerary which crosses the Causse de Sauveterre and its most beautiful places. The way indeed borrows picturesque villages which knew to preserve an authentic caussenarde architecture, and concludes at 870 meters of altitude in a fireworks. There, at the aplomb of the Cirque des Baumes, which runs along the cornice of the Tarn, the site opens onto a 360° panorama that never ceases to amaze all those who have ever ventured to this summit.
Here, the Tarn, which has carved its groove in the hollow of high ochre cliffs, and its waters, which take on a beautiful emerald color when the sun's rays shine through, take an abrupt turn, at 90°. A singular trajectory which offers a spectacle like no other, with a perspective on successive gorges, which run from the Détroits to the Pas de Soucy, and beyond the river, on the Causse Méjean. In addition to this beautiful relief, in shades of blue and green, the Point Sublime is also the refuge of griffon vultures and black vultures, which fly with character and elegance above this wild theater. Needless to say, the place is a must for all nature lovers and hikers in particular, to whom the site offers both a breath of fresh air and a reason to take a break...
The Point Sublime is of course equipped to welcome the public and allow all visitors to enjoy the picture in complete safety, despite the vertigo that it can cause as much by its abyss as by its majesty. A few steps away, the Maison du tourisme et de pays de l'Aubrac aux Gorges du Tarn allows to extend the experience. The structure houses a store selling local products (charcuterie, cow's, ewe's and goat's milk cheese, cookies, wines, chestnuts, mushrooms...) and identity objects: soaps and cosmetics, t-shirts, bags, ice cubes, cutting boards... All made nearby. The snack bar, with its shaded terrace, allows you to eat on site. Wood-fired grills and homemade ice creams are the specialty of this restaurant where you can sit down all day long for lunch, dinner or just to quench your thirst with a cold drink.
