MAX BRUMBERG FLÛTES
Max Brumberg loves nature and its extraordinary beauty surprises. This musician is attentive to the aesthetics of the place, but also to its spirituality and acoustics. Affinities, a passion, convictions above all, which he has transformed into a profession. In his workshop in Sainte-Croix-Vallée-Française, a small village of 350 inhabitants in the heart of the Cévennes National Park, Max Brumberg makes flutes, which he carves from an elder tree gathered from local forests and preserves for several years so that it becomes as hard as stone. The craftsman also uses juniper from the south of France for the caps of his instruments, or hazelnut, which is easier to shape. Once carved, these flutes are immersed in a bath of linseed oil and mustard oil, then patiently polished as they dry. To make his mark in these naturally imperfect wooden tubes, Max Brumberg ended up setting small stones or shells, collected according to his travels, especially on the Spanish Atlantic coast.
