CAMPING AMÉLIA * *
Camping for anglers near the city centre of Amélie-les-Bains-Palalda
A wooded campsite offering peace and quiet and a nearby river for anglers. In addition to tent and caravan accommodation, Camping Amélia also offers comfortable mobile homes (23 m² or 44 m²) with terraces, as well as weekend accommodation. The campsite also has an area for motorhomes (maximum 2 nights), again on a stopover basis, within the campsite itself. If you're coming to Amélie for a spa treatment or a longer stay, you'll benefit from preferential prices for the rental of a mobile home for 2 people for 21 days or more. To get to the spa, a shuttle service runs past the campsite every hour. Otherwise, the campsite is just 15 minutes from the town center (with its daily market in summer) and about 1 km from the thermal baths.

Liked: Quiet site, nice views across to the surrounding hills. Loved seeing the wild boar wandering through the site at night. Great walking straight from the site. Maps available from the very helpful Tourist office in Amelie Les Bains.
Disliked: An onsite shop would be useful although there is an Aldi within a 5 minute walk. Have to take own toilet roll when using the facilities which is fine once you know. No hot water on last day of our stay so we had cold showers.

What a treasure. Smallish camp located on edge of the town. Main road a little noisy but doesnt detract from the feeling of peace. This is very popular with french tourists and we were the only non french on site and made to feel very welcome. Facilities are adequate, clean and well looked after. Good reception. No shop, bar etc on site and by 10 it was really quiet. 10 minute walk into the local town with plenty to divert. The real gem was the walks from the town into the hills. Visit the tourist information for maps etc. stunning. At night many bats, and also wild boar came to call which caused my wife and i huge excitement. I have nothing but praise for this little site. My only disappointment was the only food store in walking distance was an Aldi.
