CONSERVATOIRE DES TISSAGES D'ARLES
Established in part of a former oil mill, Conservatoire des Tissages d'Arles reflects the history of Catalan weaving. There is a room gathering some weaving looms and a video that tells the history of the Canteloup family company. These Catalan canvases went through good times in the 19th and during the first half of the 20th century. This robust cotton canvas used for the house and table linen, but mainly in the manufacturing of espadrilles marked the history of our department. Today, the canvases of Arles, always produced on artisanal scale by only one manufacturer: Toiles du Soleil, are found in the furnishing of houses and prestigious establishments all over the world.
