UNDERWATER TRAIL
A trail offering a visit to discover the underwater fauna and flora of the marine nature reserve of Cerbère Banyuls.
Here is an original idea to discover the underwater fauna and flora of the marine nature reserve of Cerbère Banyuls. Installed at the start of the beach of Peyrefite, the visit is made by swimming on the surface, or by snorkelling with a mask, a snorkel and flippers. Along a marked out course, and in a few meters of water, you explore the small rocky funds. It's a fun walk, but also an educational one, on a 250-metre long, secure course, limited by a water line. It is punctuated by five observation stations representative of five different ecosystems, pebbles, Posidonia meadow, boulders, faults and drop-offs. Each station is marked by a numbered buoy and equipped with underwater information panels. The perimeter of the trail is supervised by lifeguards during the opening hours of the lifeguard station. The tour can also be fully commented along the way. This exclusive feature is made possible by the FM Fréquence Pro snorkel, which allows for a strikingly high quality of hearing. You will be able to hear comments presenting the underwater world. The return to the beach is done to music. This visit is more than a simple swim, it is a long aquatic walk, more than 500 meters round trip, requiring to know how to swim, because you will only be able to walk to the first station, to be in good physical condition and to know how to measure your effort while finning. It's a change of scenery, educational and fun.
